We're standing on the edge of emergency Staring at the face of it Standing on the edge of emergency Flirting with the face of it And we have always had it all We must embrace the crucible And No one wants to be here when we fall We’re standing on the edge, ready for the after-glow Standing on the edge, ready to be overthrown Standin on the edge of all we know We're Standing on the edge of emergency Staring at the face of it Standing on the edge of emergency Flirting with the face of it And we've enchanted half of you Thought we could phone it in its true And no-one wants to tell us what to do There is a thread of ocean within you In it you'll find solutions to our battle wounds Sometimes your sighs are cigarettes, & sometimes your tears are gin Sometimes the sea will carry you straight home again When we’ve taken our fall we can begin Standing on the edge, ready for the after-glow Standing on the edge, ready to be overthrown Standing on the edge of a a all we know

I’m up here worrying about my man Asking stars to appear I’m up here waiting for answers For the summer blues to clear His was a story of war that night And the silence smothered his speech Well his wounds came out and knocked the wind out of me Broke my heart and knocked the wind out of me And i’m still trying I swear I’ve been through this once or twice And i’m still trying My heart is doing the driving I’m still trying I’m telling us all to pray I’m still trying I see the light Im still trying Til we’re free We lay down with our heads connected Watched our bodies decay We came back reborn and ready to face that glorious day We saw things in the sky that night that I have no words to explain Fill our bones with smoke and push out all the pain

Sage Advice 05:07
So much for my fortune I’ll gamble with all I’ve been given I’ll have a new version of pride When I see you again See the king rising All eyes are on spaces between us And we’ll take back all of that doubt And we’ll own this town We’ll take back all of that doubt and bury it And I’m not afraid to ask you What would it be liiike not to have to choose And I will internalize that sage advice I will subscribe to that ancient sage advice I’ve only continued My dollars have all turned to tokens At least I’ll be able to say I followed my dreams At least i have people to sing with You know I’ve been drinking I’ll try to keep doin what I’m doing less Recklessly I’ll try to keep doing what I’m doin til you choose for me And I’m not afraid to ask you What would it be liiike not to have to choose And I will internalize that sage advice I will subscribe to that ancient sage advice

Rocked 04:27
Lay it on me I'm rocked heavy Pray for me please I'll be ready Look at all the times we've had I don't want to slip away Want you so bad I'd start again today A round or two is left in me How can there be a game with so much cheating when very little's holding up the meaning I cry peacefully while you lay sleeping And the rain came down with messages the rain came down on my restlessness Force-feeding me my prayer Mimicking my green eyes and how much they care A drop or 2 is left in me how can there be A game With so much feeling When I can’t feel a thing til morning's beating I sit shamefully while you speak clearly
5.
Velvet Coat 04:43
When you’re wondering how you keep repeating, deceiving Ask the man in the velvet coat He’ll give your words new meaning Don’t you know that your thoughts are things It’s a joke, it’s healing Why keep grumbling about the way His time is spent on dreaming Take his medicine with a sense Of happiness and agency Won’t you help me help you out It’s a game, it’s healing And I should have been worth your time I should have made you check your pride We’ll put our stones out on the nights of the full moons Why do we have to suffer all the time? And we can’t keep floating above it all We need that fire to survive We can’t attempt to destroy it all on our own damn timeline The fire it will be warm for you Warm for my baby The journey will be effortless I’m enjoying forgiving you Working hard this evening Planting seeds for a friend to come And elevate the ceiling Don’t you know that your thoughts are things Its a joke, it’s healing

about

An ambitious followup to Cave Clove’s eponymous 2016 full-length studio album, Dollars to Tokens (slated for release 5.3.19) demonstrates a potent formula for why vocalist/songwriter Katie Colver and her band are on a fast track emerging as one of the Bay Area’s most compelling new acts. Dollars to Tokens presents five unflinching chronicles of Colver’s own emotional yet often existential triumphs and struggles. Set to psych-rock infused production brimming with electrifying guitars and a West Coast Americana songwriting sensibility, Colver explores what it means to follow one’s most fervent dreams, while addressing all of the risks and sacrifices that such a journey entails. Set aside some time to delve into these anthemic stunners while Colver and Cave Clove dive to the depths of her idiosyncratic psyche.

"This EP is about the dance between self-actualization and self-sabotage," Cave Clove frontwoman Katie Colver says of her band's new five-song release Dollars to Tokens. "A vigorous impulse to experience things as deeply and fully as possible has haunted me for my whole life. I'm quick to throw myself into the fire, push myself right to the edge of my comfort zone, or beyond, with a goal of becoming stronger. These new songs reflect a sense of recklessness and coming to terms with what’s sacred in this life."
